Bardolatry Productions® has been formed to bring to screen all 37 of Shakespeare's plays over the coming decade.
While the storylines are true to the original plays, our goal is to highlight the universality of the source material by showing the drama in a new light. The stories often take place in a different culture or time and historical context.
The consistent theme across all productions is top shelf quality. All films are created with world class producers, directors, actors and art direction. Principal photography is done in beautiful locations, all around the world.
King John is one of Shakespeare's lesser-known history plays, but it's packed with drama. It follows the story of King John of England, who's trying to hold onto his throne amid threats from France, rebellious nobles, and some serious family drama. There's a lot of back-and-forth about who really has the right to rule, with John's young nephew Arthur caught in the middle. Throw in political scheming, shifting loyalties, and a bold, witty character named the Bastard, and you've got a fast-moving tale about power, pride, and the cost of keeping a crown.
Hamlet is one of Shakespeare's most renowned tragedies, centering on the young Prince of Denmark as he grapples with grief, betrayal, and the burden of revenge. After the sudden death of his father, Hamlet is unsettled by his mother's swift remarriage to his uncle Claudius—who, as it turns out, may have murdered the king to seize the throne. When Hamlet encounters his father's ghost confirming the crime, he becomes consumed by the need for justice but struggles with doubt and introspection. As he devises a plan to expose the truth, his actions lead to a chain of events filled with deception, madness, and ultimately, tragedy. It's a powerful exploration of morality, identity, and the human condition.
We are bringing every one of Shakespeare's plays to the screen but King John and Hamlet are currently in active pre-production. As projects move from the planning to pre-production stage, we will list them here.
